When I woke up this morning, it was snowing. You might have seen it, too. It didn't seem to last long enough to let much stick, and now it's gone.

But what I found odd was to see the snowflakes coming straight down. Most of the time around here, the snow flies by horizontally.

When I commented on it to one friend, she said it found it beautiful and peaceful.

Another said with the last snow we had, they had six inches drift on the east porch of their house and the west backyard was still dirt. That epitomizes our usual horizontal snow showers!

We've lived here for almost 25 years and the predominant snowstorms we've had have come through (not down, although gravity kept some falling and staying on the ground) horizontally. So I thought seeing the snow slowly drifting downward toward the ground was odd.

Did you notice it? What was your reaction to it?
