TheActrix Studio's Beloved Summer Drama Camps Return to The Hearth in 2025
Silver City, NM — This summer, local families can look forward to a vibrant season of imagination, laughter, and community as TheActrix Studio LLC brings its 2025 Summer Drama Camps back to The Hearth, located at 1915 N. Swan St. The Hearth is a mission-driven community space in Silver City dedicated to cultivating connection, rest, and restoration in Grant County.
Hosted July 7 - August 7, these dynamic camps offer morning, afternoon, and full-day options, giving families the flexibility they need while engaging young performers in hands-on, high-energy theatre experiences. Campers will dive into themed sessions that spark collaboration, confidence, and a whole lot of fun—from character-building games to mini-performances that showcase each child's unique voice and spirit.
"Our summer camps are more than just theatre," says Wendy Spurgeon, founding teacher of TheActrix Studio. "Summer theatre camps are where magic and mayhem meet — and I absolutely love guiding young actors through both! The community space at the Hearth is the ideal venue for our theatrical shenanigans."
The Hearth, known for its commitment to nurturing rural creativity, serves as the perfect backdrop for these enriching programs. With its welcoming atmosphere and multi-purpose space, The Hearth allows campers and teaching artists to fully immerse themselves in storytelling and stagecraft while supporting the broader vision of community-based arts access in Southwest New Mexico.
"The Hearth is proud to partner with programs like TheActrix Studio School Break Camps," shares Emily Aversa, director of The Hearth. "We are happy to provide a space for young people to make connections through theater. I have seen how my own child has been able to explore interpersonal and intrapersonal dynamics by participating in drama over the years, and I think it's a wonderful creative and exploratory medium for growth."
Each camp week culminates in a casual performance for families and friends, where kids share what they've created—bringing smiles, applause, and a little theatrical magic to local audiences.
