Silver City, NM — The Grant Soil and Water Conservation District is thrilled to announce the awarding of the Mark Runyan Memorial Scholarship, which will provide $300 to support the New Mexico State Champion Horse Judging Team on their journey to the national contest in Denver, Colorado, scheduled for January 2025. This scholarship not only represents a financial boost but also highlights the importance of nurturing the next generation of agricultural leaders.

"We would like to thank the sponsors of the scholarship for helping our youth attend this contest," said Jessica Massengill, Grant County 4-H Agent of the Grant County Cooperative Extension Service. "Their generosity and commitment to education play a crucial role in developing the skills and knowledge that our young people need to succeed in the agriculture industry."

The Mark Runyan Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Mark Runyan, whose dedication to agriculture and education inspired countless individuals. By supporting the horse judging team, the scholarship aims to cultivate talent, promote teamwork, and enhance the participants' understanding of agricultural practices.
