DedicationHonoring Nature's Smallest Heroes:

SANTA CLARA, NM — The Jacob Bennett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Village of Santa Clara invites the public to a special dedication ceremony for the new Pollinator Hotel and Educational Marker on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at The Mercado and Pollinator Garden on Fort Bayard Street in Santa Clara, New Mexico.

This engaging community event celebrates the completion of a long-anticipated project aimed at raising awareness about the vital role pollinators play in our ecosystem. Pollinator hotels are manmade structures that mimic the natural habitats of bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, offering them shelter and a safe place to thrive. As pollinator populations continue to decline worldwide, these efforts are more important than ever.

In addition to the pollinator hotels, the event will unveil a permanent educational marker designed to inform visitors about the significance of pollinators and the importance of supporting their habitats and recognize the Village of Santa Clara for establishing a Pollinator Garden.

"This initiative speaks directly to DAR's mission of conservation," said Lucy Whitmarsh, Regent of the Jacob Bennett Chapter. "We are proud to be partners of this effort developed by the Village of Santa Clara and of the Pollination Garden that continues to grow at this location."

The project has been in development since 2021 and supports the State Regent Project of Honorary State Regent Patricia French Barger, reflecting a broader commitment across the state. The dedication will feature remarks from community leaders, DAR representatives, and a message of appreciation from the Honorary State Regent herself.

This is a family-friendly event, and families are especially encouraged to attend. Instilling environmental awareness in young people is a key component of the chapter's vision for a more sustainable future. The Gila Native Plant Society is providing an educational exhibit and the Jacob Bennet Chapter will have information available about a current initiative, "In The Spirit of 1776" that involves community participation.

A reception will follow the ceremony and ample parking is available.

Join us in celebrating a small structure with a big impact—and help us create a buzz about conservation!
