VC2Father Christmas will be on hand to hear the holiday wishes of all good girls and boys at the Silver City Museum's 40th Annual Victorian Christmas and More celebrationSilver City -- It's that magical time of year once again, when the Silver City Museum celebrates the holidays with the 40th Victorian Christmas and More event on Saturday, December 14, from 11 am to 3:30 pm in the museum courtyard. Holiday revelers will enjoy a variety of free family activities and live entertainment throughout the day, and several local vendors will be on site, offering a wide selection of locally made and handcrafted items for sale, just in time for holiday gift-giving.

"We are so happy once again to be hosting one of the region's most popular holiday events," said Museum Director Bart Roselli. "Victorian Christmas and More has been a Silver City tradition for forty years now, and our goal is to offer a mix of the many ways in which we as a community celebrate this season."

Father Christmas will be there to hear children's holiday wishes, and to give away free books, courtesy of Literacy Link-Leamos. Imagination Library will also be on hand to sign-up children for its free books and reading programs. Everyone is invited to enjoy complimentary cookies and cider, and children can participate in holiday craft-making with members of the Bird Alliance of Southwest New Mexico, who will be hosting an "I Heart Birds" coloring station, and setting up their popular "What Bird Am I?" wheel of fortune game. Other children's activities include sand art, making holiday luminaries, and face painting.

This event will be held regardless of weather conditions, and if the weather is chilly, participants can warm up indoors by checking out the museum's newest exhibit, "Healers and Heroines: Women and the Shaping of Local Health Care," which also opens December 14. Museum Society members may also use their annual holiday discount of 20% in the museum store, which features hundreds of unique and affordable gifts, perfect for every occasion.
No holiday celebration would be complete without music, and The Silver Ringtones will perform throughout the day. Other live performances are scheduled as follows:

• Silver Chorale: 11:00 -11:30
• Puppet Show: 11:15 - 12:15
• Baile Encanto: 12:30 - 1:30
• Tejana Singer, Keana Huerta: 1:30 - 2:30
• Mariachi Singer, Anjelica Padilla: 2:30 - 3:30

The vendor list continues to grow, and includes: Gila Moon Gallery; Wild Heart Artworks; Trinity Creations; Silverado Hats; La Bonita Bakery; TGI Frybread; Kit West with original poetry notebooks and cards; and Jane Beers, sharing macramé, jewelry, and more.

Sponsors of Victorian Christmas and More include the Town of Silver City; the Silver City Museum Society; WILL (Western Institute for Lifelong Learning); LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens, Local 8003); the New Mexico Humanities Council; Imagination Library; Freeport McMoRan; and Future Forge Makerspace.

Museum admission is also free, though a suggested donation of $5 helps support the museum's educational programs, collections care and exhibitions.
