LibraryExhibitPhoto Credit Lynn WelschThe Southwest Women's Fiber Arts Collective (SWFAC) has installed a Fiber Art display at the Silver City Public Library in the exhibit case at the top of the stairs. The display will be shown through September 28, 2025 and showcases the variety of fiber arts made by members.

Some of the work represents the type of fiber arts that will be for sale at the Fall Fiber Arts Sale October 11 and 12th in the ballroom of the Murray Hotel located on Broadway St. in downtown Silver City. The sale is part of the Silver City Art Association's Weekend at the Galleries tour.

The members hope you enjoy the display. Each item is accompanied by a placard explaining the type of fiber art. SWFAC is grateful to the Silver City Public Library for hosting the display.

Members of SWFAC make many types of fiber art encompassing the manual manipulation of a variety of fibers by weaving, knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, basket making, and paper making to name a few of the techniques.

SWFAC was founded in 2005 and is a local, all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the economic development goal to stimulate and support successful cottage industry in the southwest. Both novice and skilled SWFAC artists enrich the community by nurturing and empowering one another fostering opportunities to gain new experience, expand talent and earn income from their art.
