The attempted assassination of a former president and presidential candidate seems to bring out the best and the worst in people these days.
I saw both yesterday evening.
Almost any person with a base of decency will express horror that such a thing should happen in our country.
However, if that person is opposed to the candidate, immediately, in the same thought, after that reaction that it shouldn't happen in America, Satan and the brainwashing of media kicks in and lays the blame on the victim.
A person who supports the victim has the same reaction of horror at what happened, and then supports prayer for the safety of the victim.
Another person, opposed to the victim, can express the worst reaction, making an almost celebratory exclamation on the happening.
If that latter person happens to be a politician, then the reality of what that knee-jerk comment might cause to inhibit that person's re-election comes into play. The comment is redacted, removed or replaced with one of more political correctness.
A more accomplished politician, who opposes the victim, comes out with a statement expressing shock and horror at the event and then turns it to political persuasion to support that politician's agenda.
How far we have come as a nation since the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
I witnessed the reactions of everyone that day in November 1963. I, as a college student, had no knowledge of anyone else's political persuasion. What I saw that day across the spectrum of everyone was the complete shock and horror of the happening. Although it was a class day, every professor I knew came to the class and immediately cancelled class so that students might mourn the loss of the President of the United States of America.
We should all join in prayer for the protection, safety and security of every citizen of not only the USA but every human being on Earth. We are all created in God's image. It's time we all accepted that creation and brought our best selves to the fore.
