Heinrich’s Team Panics After Biden's Debate Performance

The spokesperson for Heinrich made clear how vulnerable Heinrich is and how much of a drag Joe Biden is in New Mexico 

ALBUQUERQUE, NM, JUNE 28 —Democratic Senator Martin Heinrich's spokesperson shared two statements expressing worry over Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance on Thursday evening. The tweets reveal the anxiety within the Heinrich campaign regarding the U.S. Senate race in New Mexico, their concern about the Democratic ticket under Joe Biden's leadership, and their inability to defend their record of failures.

Simply put, it was a bad night for Martin Heinrich and New Mexico Democrats.

Caty Payette, the Senator's most senior communications official, shared the two tweets during the debate but has since deleted them. However, screenshots were captured and can be seen below. The first statement was a tweet with the caption "This debate..." and a Veep meme reading "what the f***?" The second was a tweet captioned with "Everyone watching this debate:" and a meme from the show Veep that read "Siri, why does God allow suffering." 

"Joe Biden and Martin Heinrich had a rough night. Don't take our word for it, just ask the Heinrich campaign," said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce."There is no escaping Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance, and it is clear that it has put Democrats, including Senator Heinrich, into panic mode."

Reporters should consider asking Senator Heinrich:

  • Do the views of Biden, Senator Heinrich's top spokesman, during the debate reflect his own?

  • Does Senator Heinrich still stand with Biden after his disastrous performance?

  • As a superdelegate to the Democrat National Convention, will Senator Heinrich be seeking a new nominee?
