“Walt Whitman: Bard of Democracy,” with Nancy Cliff at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Nancy Cliff will discuss the poetry of Walt Whitman and the effects it had on the American experience. She will talk about who Whitman was, what he did and why it matters. There will be a discussion period after the presentation.
Cliff is a long-time member of UUFSC and her long-term interests in history and political science will inform her discussion of Whitman’s poetry.
Nancy Cliff grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She went to Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. After college she lived in Washington, D.C. in the 1970s and Anchorage Alaska in the last two decades of the 20th Century.
Upon retiring as a paralegal from the Alaska Attorney General's Office in 1998, she moved to Silver City where she and her husband had already purchased and renovated an historic house. Cliff has been active in various local nonprofits in Silver City.
There are speakers on the patio if you wish to enjoy the service outside.
