The Gila Valley Library will celebrate its 20th anniversary on October 5, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with the Cliff School cheerleaders performing, gift giveaways, speeches, a picnic lunch and more. The public is invited.

See the flyer below.

The Gila Valley Library, serving the rural communities of Cliff, Gila, Riverside, Buckhorn, Pleasanton and all the ranches in between, started twenty years ago as a "Developing Library" in a 400-square-foot storage room in the back of the community center. Despite being an all-volunteer effort for years, it achieved certification as a full-fledged library in 2008.

Three to five hundred people are active cardholders at any given time, and the library circulates between four and five thousand books, CDs and DVDs every year.

In 2013, the library's new director, Madge Slavec, focused on children's programs, and since that time the library has collaborated with Cliff School for science, storytelling and writing, archaeology, theater, natural history, art, and many other programs.

The library also offers adult programs on travel, valley history, current events issues, and more.
