Literacy Link-Leamos holds Love Your Library Day at the Silver City Public Library Saturday, April 20

(Silver City, NM) – Literacy Link-Leamos will host Love Your Library Day on Saturday, April 20, 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Silver City Public Library. The event will take place throughout the whole library and outside, featuring many fabulous door prizes, music, tinsel fairy-hair extensions, stories, games, bubbles, snacks, robot demos, and even a fire truck. The Fiddling Friends will play between noon and 1pm, and there will be lotería, crafts, and lots of free books. The NMSU Grant County Extension and other partners will be present.

April 20 will also be a free library card replacement day. Anyone who has lost their card can replace it on these days without paying the normal $5 fee.

Cooper Street will be closed between College Avenue and 8th Street for the event. Parking will be available on College, 8th Street, and Bayard Street.

"This will be the first Love Your Library Day since the pandemic, and we are grateful to Literacy Link-Leamos for organizing it," said Lillian Galloway, library assistant director.

"Thank you to the Silver City Library for supporting literacy in our community. Thank you to Abigail, Lillian, and the rest of the library staff, our community partners, and Literacy Link- Leamos board members and volunteers, for helping to fill this day with some fun activities," said Kim Godfrey, Literacy Link-Leamos program director. "We are also grateful to Western Bank for their $50.00 donation for door prizes."
