Silver City, NM – Gila Regional Medical Center is proud to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Women and Newborn Services unit, previously referred to as Maternal Child. The new Women and Newborn Services will combine labor and delivery, postpartum, Level 2 Nursery, and gynecological care into one location. This consolidation will not only allow Gila Regional to serve the community better but also ensure more efficient and comprehensive care for patients.

The newly renovated Women and Newborn Services unit is equipped with safety measures to ensure the well-being of patients. These include the new HUGS Infant Protection- an infant security system, new fetal heart monitoring equipment and software, a new Level 2 Nursery, and a new nurses' station. With generous support from the GRMC Foundation and Auxiliary, the new area ensures medical providers will be operating in optimal conditions.

Gila Regional Medical Center is deeply appreciative of the unwavering support and assistance from the State of New Mexico, Senator Siah Hemphill, Representative Luis Terrazas, Lt. Governor Howie Morales, the GRMC Board of Trustees, the Grant County Commissioners, GRMC Foundation, GRMC Auxiliary, and all other stakeholders. Their contributions have been instrumental in making this renovation a reality, and Gila Regional is excited to share the positive impact it will have on the community.

All community members are invited to the opening ceremony on Wednesday, July 24th. The doors will open at 2:30 p.m., followed by a ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m. The ceremony will be located at Gila Regional Medical Center, 1313 E. 32nd St. Silver City, NM, on the second floor (next to the Chapel).
