The Tapestry of Talent Fiber Art Fashion show, a fundraiser for the SW Women's Fiber Arts Collective (SWFAC) features wearable fiber art and accessories. The fiber art fashions made by members of SWFAC showcase one-of-a-kind designs created especially for the event. The show will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 with doors opening at 12:30 pm at the historic Silco Theater located at 311 N. Bullard St. in downtown Silver City. Funds raised by the event will go to support classes, outreach to the community, and sales events.
Recently, seventeen volunteer models tried on their assigned garments and are ready for the Tapestry of Talent Fashion show. "We are grateful for the models and the time they are donating to the fashion show. They had to come to try on the garments, will do a full rehearsal, and the show", states Colette Kelly, model coordinator for the show. "We couldn't do it without them! It is going to be a fun and enjoyable show with an amazing variety of fiber art garments."
"We are very grateful for our collaboration with Mimbres Valley Health Action League and Patricia de Naranjo. Patricia recruited six models from the Mimbres Valley including one mom and her two children. We love having youth in the show and having models from the Mimbres Valley. It's collaboration that brings our community together."
Kelly continues, "We also have five model dressers and a stage manager. Marcia Tinker is the stage manager and discussed with the models how to walk on the stage at the try on."
Many of the fashions and accessories for the fashion show will be available for sale immediately after the show. All fashions will be listed along with their price in the Tapestry of Talent program.
In addition to the show, there will be four wonderful gift basket drawings. SWFAC members and community members have donated items to make the baskets appealing to everyone. These are amazing baskets and they alone are worth coming to the show!
Seating for the event is open and attendees are encouraged to come early at 12:30 pm to be sure to get the seat they want. Refreshments will be available in the Silco Theater concession.
We are especially grateful to our sponsors the Town of Silver City, Janey and Suzi and the Elks Club. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at our homepage at www.fiberartscollective.org. Last year's event sold out and with more than half of the tickets sold, we encourage people to purchase tickets soon.
SWFAC was founded in 2005 and is a local, all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the goal to stimulate and support successful cottage industry in the southwest. To accomplish this, SWFAC members nurture and empower one another. Both novice and skilled SWFAC artists enrich the community by fostering opportunities to gain new experience and expand talent as well as earn income from their art. Please visit SWFAC's website at www.fiberartscollective.org to learn more about the organization.
