WEATHER ADVISORY:
DEMING (LUNA COUNTY) AREA HEAVY RAINFALL
Please be advised the Luna County area is receiving heavy rainfall. Roadways are wet and slick, visibility may be low, please reduce speed and proceed with caution.
Difficult Driving Conditions in Lordsburg Area
NM 113 from mile post 10 to mile post 15, low water crossing is running with debris. If roadway is flooded do not cross and seek an alternate route. NMDOT will notify as conditions change.
Difficult Driving Conditions in Cliff Area
The Cliff Patrol has reported water running on NM 174 from mile post 1 to mile post 4. The CatWalk is open although the Gila National Forest has closed the Catwalk Recreational site. If roadway dips and low areas are running with debris, do not cross, seek an alternate route.

ROAD CLOSURE
FLOODING – Animas Area
NM 9 eastbound and westbound lanes from mile marker 0 to mile marker 13(Animas), water is running and roadway is impassable. The NMDOT is currently clearing roadway and will notify as conditions change.
When the roadway is flooded do not cross and seek an alternate route. Turn around, don't drown.

NM 15 from mile post 10 to 42, low water crossing are running with debris. If roadway is flooded do not cross and seek an alternate route. NMDOT will notify as conditions change.
NM 35 (Mimbres) from mile post 5 to 27, low water crossing is running with debris. If roadway is flooded do not cross and seek an alternate route. NMDOT will notify as conditions change.
NM 61 (Faywood to San Juan) from mile post 16 to 25, low water crossing are running with debris. If roadway is flooded do not cross and seek an alternate route. NMDOT will notify as conditions change.

The Grant County Office of Emergency Management is warning residents that the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Grant County beginning today, 9/22/2026 at 12:00 PM until 9/23/2026 at 7:00 PM. A Flood Watch means excessive rainfall and localized flash flooding is possible.

Widespread thunderstorms are expected across the region Tuesday through Thursday with a Level 3 of 4 (Moderate) Risk for Flash Flooding through Thursday morning.
