The town of Hurley held a regular meeting October 23, 2024. Attendance to the meeting included Mayor Ed Stevens, councilors Nanette Day, Reynaldo Maynes, Keana Huerta and Pete Ordonez.

The council approved resolution 8-2024/2025 to participate in the local government road fund program. George Esqueda said they would have to use a different contractor for the project. D and M Paving had not been on the approved list with the state. He recommended an extension for time. Stevens thanked Esqueda for catching the problem. He spoke to them about pulling three different grants together to do the project all at once and save on mobilization for each one and just pay once.

The council approved resolution 9-2024/2025 to participate in the local government road fund program. This would be a different one from the previous one but would combine them. Esqueda recommended they put out and RFP (request for proposals) in March or April of 2025. It would be a better time to do road work because of the weather.

The council tabled task order 1, ammendment 2. This addressed the renovations to the GO Building. It had taken a little longer to make the requested changes for the layout. The lead architect had been ill. Esqueda will have the documents in November.

The council tabled task order 2, amendment 1. This addressed the changes to the plans for the Big Muddy. They had a mix up with the architect and Esqueda will have the documents in November.

The council approved task order 4, amendment 1. This would be a reduction in fees to Stantec for the lift station bidding and construction. Because of the hold up on the project they had not done any tasks to date. The hold up has been because of delays in availability of materials to do the project. Stevens said they have had to spend $4,000 a month for the equipment to run the station until it can be repaired.

The council approved task order 8, amendment 1. This would be for the GO Building abatement. They had sent out RFPs but had problems with document delivery for different reasons. They will need to start the process again. The grant for the project will be extended by the EPA. Esqueda asked that they hold off on sending RFPs again for now and explained the reasons.

The next regular meeting will be November 12, 2024, at 5:00 pm.

Meeting adjourned.
