Highlights: As fire activity slows on the Trout Fire, the incident management is right-sizing the response. Personnel are beginning to demobilize in preparation for the current incident management team close-out early next week. This strategic adjustment ensures that staffing levels match operational needs of the incident while maintaining the capability to respond should conditions change.
Operations Update: Firefighters continue to patrol and monitor containment lines across the Trout Fire, extinguish any remaining heat near the fire’s edge. Suppression repair is also taking place across the fire area. This process is carried out in close coordination with resource advisors (READs). These individuals have specialized skills and knowledge to provide crews with the guidance necessary to ensure that repair work aligns with the needs of impacted resources. Firefighters are addressing areas impacted by fireline construction, rehabilitating handline, restoring natural drainage patterns, and reducing long-term erosion risks. Crews are also mending fences, completing chipping operations, and utilizing slash debris to assist in soil stabilization.
Evacuations: All evacuation orders related to the Trout Fire have been lifted. While residents are now able to return to their homes, they are encouraged to remain alert and stay informed as changing weather conditions and post-fire impacts, such as flash flooding or debris flows, may still pose a risk in the area.
Donations: The Commons, in collaboration with the Gila Community Foundation, is now coordinating the donation bank. Supply pick-up/drop-off is located at 1016 N. Silver Street, Silver City, NM.
