On Friday, Dec.20, 2024, at approximately 7:02 p.m., a Silver City Police Department officer was dispatched to the public pool parking lot on N. Silver Street and the parking lot across N. Silver Street from the pool. The officer was told a red SUV was driving in circles in both parking lots and the vehicle’s actions were suspicious.

According to an SCPD incident report, the officer encountered the driver, Katherine Henry, 34, of Las Cruces, in a 2019 Chevrolet, parked in a handicapped parking space. The officer suspected Henry was under the influence of alcohol and asked her if she would be willing to perform Standard Field Sobriety Tests. Henry replied that she didn’t think that was necessary but finally agreed to perform the tests.

Henry failed to perform six tests as instructed and was placed under arrest. After being transported to SCPD for paperwork, she blew breath samples of .15 and .16. Henry was charged with aggravated DWI and booked into the Grant County Detention Center.
