On Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at about 8:54 a.m., a Bayard Police Department officer was dispatched to the area of Tom Foy Blvd. and Hurley Avenue reference a welfare check call. When the officer arrived he saw a female, later identified as Amber Woods, 30, of Bayard, who appeared to be under the influence, yelling obscenities at a male who was parked in front of Blake's Lotaburger.

According to a BPD incident report, Woods refused to obey verbal commands and resisted being taken into custody and handcuffed.

At the restaurant manager's request, Woods was issued an indefinite criminal trespass warning to the Blake's Lotaburger.

As Woods was complaining of a headache and requested medical treatment, EMS was summoned who advised she did not need to be transported to the ER for treatment. According to the report, Woods continued to complain of headache and was transported to Gila Regional Medical Center to be medically cleared. Woods was later booked into the Grant County Detention Center, charged with disorderly conduct (disturbing the peace) and resisting, evading, or obstructing a peace officer.

GCDC staff told the Beat, Woods was released on personal recognizance the next day, Dec. 4, by Judge Grijalva.
