Both the wreath placement and Remembrance Ceremony for Wreaths Across America at Fort Bayard National Cemetery will be held Saturday morning, December 14.
Special request or grave specific wreath placements will occur at 9:00 am. The remaining wreaths will be placed at 9:30 a.m. and volunteers are invited to help with this activity.
Following the wreath placement, the annual Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 10:30. All are welcome and invited to attend this veterans' tribute when a printed program will be provided listing some 600 "In Memoriam" names as well as our over 500 wreath sponsors.
Preceding the Remembrance Ceremony, musical entertainment will be provided by the Silver Ringtones at 10 in the Committal Shelter area.
Due to ongoing wreath distribution and empty cardboard box pickup by the wreath logistics crew on the cemetery's narrow roads, NO vehicles will be allowed inside the gates until 9:45 a.m. Wreath placers are asked to park outside the cemetery gates until access to the Remembrance Ceremony is permitted at 9:45.
In order to pay respect to each veteran receiving a wreath, the placer says the name on that individual's marker and thanks him/her for their service as the wreath is leaned into the marker, bow on top.
Cooler weather is anticipated for this weekend so please dress accordingly.
