April Crosby will speak on the Gila Valley Library Story and Rotary's Helpful Role on Tuesday September 17th at 12 Noon in the Sunset Room on the WNMU Campus.

April retired to life as a snowbird between Gila and Alaska in 1997 with Rotarian husband, Merritt Helfferich, who frequented the Silver City Club until he passed away in 2019.

April earned a PhD in philosophy from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. She taught in Colorado and Maine before moving to Alaska in 1975. April worked at University of Alaska for 16 years, and lived in Alaska for 40 years. She moved permanently to Gila in 2019.

April is an avid world traveler by bike and on foot. In 2017, she spoke to the Silver City Rotary Club about hiking in the Himalayas in the Buddhist country of Bhutan.
An active member of Cliff/Gila community, she has been on the board of Gila Valley Library for eight (8) years, president for five (5).
