Bayard, NM – The Bayard Public Library is excited to celebrate National Poetry Month with special programming featuring acclaimed New Mexico poet Michelle Otero. The event is co-sponsored by Southwest Word Fiesta and LULAC Silver City Council 8003. Community members of all ages are invited to participate in engaging poetry workshops and an open mic event, fostering creativity and self-expression.
Teen Poetry Workshop – Friday, April 25 at 10 AM
Teens are invited to explore the power of words in a dynamic poetry workshop led by Michelle Otero. This session will provide young writers with the tools to express themselves through poetry, offering guidance and inspiration from an experienced poet.
Poetry Workshop for All Ages & Open Mic – Saturday, April 26
Join us for a day of poetry and community at the Bayard Public Library. This all-ages poetry workshop, beginning at 10 AM, welcomes participants of all skill levels to learn and create under the direction of Michelle Otero. Following the workshop, attendees are invited to enjoy a free enchilada lunch provided by LULAC Silver City Council 8003 and then share their poetry at an Open Mic at 1 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for poets and poetry lovers to connect, celebrate language, and showcase their work in a supportive environment.
