Seniors in our community are a source of joy and wisdom, but may face challenges of loneliness in their lives. There are plenty of opportunities through Chicanos Por La Causa for seniors to get involved and support their peers and the next generation of leaders with programs from Chicanos Por La Causa in New Mexico.

There are two programs from Chicanos Por La Causa that seniors can volunteer for in Rio Arriba, Mora, San Miguel, Guadalupe, Doña Ana, Catron, and Grant counties:

Senior Companion Program: Senior Companion Program pairs volunteer seniors with other seniors to help retain their dignity and independent living situations. The program focuses on seniors who have adults who have difficulty with daily living tasks.
Foster Grandparent Program: Foster Grandparent Program pairs volunteer seniors and young children together to develop valuable skills and confidence to succeed. The program provides one-on-one mentoring, nurturing, and support to children who are in circumstances that limit their academic, social, or emotional development. Both seniors and students receive healthy socialization, facilitated by teachers in a school setting.
