Weather permitting, the Silver City Friends of the Library's (FOL) Bookstore and Parking Lot Book Sale will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10:00am-2:00pm, at 1510 Market Street across from Cheyenne Street. The sale is open to the public, free of charge. Come enjoy browsing the stacks and finding treasures, all while supporting the Silver City Public Library.
"This is our 'Welcome to Autumn' book sale," Barbara Guber, FOL bookstore manager, said. "Our volunteers worked throughout the summer processing the large number of book donations received from our community. We've restocked all our bookstore shelves.
"The fiction and non-fiction bookshelves inside the bookstore hold lots of new titles. The special display shelves contain captivating art, travel, and coffee-table volumes and a new supply of special books dating from the 1800s and beyond. The CD Room is stocked with hundreds of recently donated music CDs and a huge selection of Audio Book CDs."
"Our prices on all items inside the Book Store are set low so that everyone can find something to take home and enjoy. Hardbacks and large paperbacks sell for $1.00, small paperbacks for $0.50. Some unique items are priced separately."
"Outside in the parking lot, visitors will find tables loaded with books; they can purchase as many as they are able to squeeze into a bag supplied by FOL for $2.00/bag. Children's books are available in the parking lot sale. Priced separately are a number of newly donated Book Sets. There is no limit on the number of bags an individual can fill and purchase," Guber added.
Because of space issues in the parking lot, customer parking is available street-side only. FOL volunteers will be available to assist visitors in carrying their purchases to their cars.
Funds from FOL book sales go to the Silver City Public Library to support its programs and activities which serve our whole community and enhance its quality of life.
Book donations can be placed in the Friends of the Library donation bins outside the Silver City Library main door. These are located to the right of the Library's bin for returning library books. Please note the next FOL book sale will be on Saturday, November 11, 2023. FOL book sales take place on the second Saturday of the odd-numbered months. There is no book sale in July.
