Opportunities for Nonprofits – Apply Now!
The Gila Community Foundation is pleased to announce two grants available in this grant cycle. The application due date is March 31, 2025; grants will be issued mid-April. Applicants must have 501(c)3 designation and be in good standing with all authorities. Application forms are available on the Gila Community Foundations website (gilacf.org).
The Life Quest fund focuses on mental health/developmental disabilities. The total award is $5,000 and can be awarded to multiple applicants. The purpose is to promote and fund services within our area which provide services to those with mental illness or developmental challenges. These services can be educational, recreational or beneficial in some way to those clientele within the Gila Community Foundation’s service area of Grant, Catron, Hidalgo and Luna counties.
The Luna County Ranchettes are offering $10,000 which can be granted to multiple recipients. The award is intended to improve the quality of life for residents of Luna County. Their purpose is to educate citizens on issues, provide services arising out of land ownership, assist persons and families moving to rural Luna County, and promote quality of life. This could include public education on ground water, solar/wind energy or open space, environmentally sustainable development or programs that will improve the quality of life.

✨ Welcome New GCF Board Members!
The Gila Community Foundation is excited to welcome three new board members whose expertise and dedication will strengthen our mission.
Katelyn Church brings her experience as Coordinator of Technology for the Cobre Consolidated School District and her background as an ordained minister, public speaker, and nonprofit volunteer. Her passion for education, technology, and community service makes her a valuable addition.
April Crosby is a retired philosophy professor and university administrator who has served on multiple nonprofit boards, most recently with The Gila Valley Library. A long-time advocate for public lands and community service, she brings years of leadership experience and dedication to rural communities.
Peggy Hutchinson, our new Treasurer, has been deeply involved in local nonprofits since retiring to Silver City, including the Southwest Word Fiesta, Youth Mural Program, and Give Grandly. A founding member of the original Grant County Community Foundation, she is thrilled to support the foundation’s next chapter.
We are grateful for their commitment and excited for the impact they will bring to our community. Please join us in welcoming Katelyn, April, and Peggy to the GCF team!
