CLOSURE NOTIFICATION
TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, NM, Mar. 12, 2025 – The Gila National Forest, Black Range Ranger District will close the Kingston Campground, adjacent to the Town of Kingston, New Mexico March 13 – 16 for a community event. Gila National Forest staff will work with Kingston community members to clean up and remove dead and down fuels from the Nursery Spring area.
"Nursery Spring is located north of Kingston Campground on the east edge of the Town of Kingston," said Black Range District Ranger Bret Mellott. "During the 2022 Black Fire, crews thinned and cut back brush to reduce risk of fire to the Kinsgston community. Now, we will work with local community members to clean up and remove the residual debris."
Kingston Campground will be used as a staging area during the project and to lodge volunteers who come to the area to help out.
