DrMarieWeilDr. Marie Weil explores how culture helps shape emotional well-being at the Silver City Museum's April 2 Community Conversation, in partnership with the Western Institute for Lifelong Learning (WILL).Silver City -- The Silver City Museum's next Community Conversation takes place Wednesday, April 2, when board-certified psychologist Dr. Marie Weil presents "Identity and Healing: Who Am I, What Do I Value, and How Do I Take Care of My Emotional Health and Well-being?" In this interactive discussion, Dr. Weil will guide participants in an exploration of how culture shapes emotional health and well-being, considering factors like tradition, identity and access to care. The event takes place from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in the ABC room of the Besse-Forward Global Resource Center on the campus of WNMU.

Dr. Weil's clinical interests and expertise include: bilingual psychological testing and assessment; clinical supervision; health psychology, and co-occurring conditions with emphasis on chronic pain; end-of-life care including palliative care and hospice; along with treatment of trauma survivors and offenders of interpersonal violence; survivors of sexual violence; immigrants and refugees.

She embraces inter-professional collaboration with more than 29 years of experience working in the Veterans Health Administration, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, hospitals, universities, managed care, private practice, community behavioral health, and a federally qualified health center. She also participated in the health care focus group that contributed to the museum's current exhibit, Healers and Heroines: Women and the Shaping of Local Health Care.

Dr. Weil earned a PsyD and MS in clinical psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, an MA in applied psychology from Pennsylvania State University, and her BS in psychology and Spanish from Sweet Briar College. She is a graduate of Silver High School.
