On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, Bryant Chaffino, Music Program Coordinator at WNMU, will speak to Rotary on mariachi music and WNMU's Mariachi Plata ensemble.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Chaffino created the Mariachi program for Gadsden Middle School and Gadsden High School in Anthony, NM. After many years of performance in two of the largest and most well-known Mariachi ensembles in the Southwest and Mexico, Bryant founded his own professional group Mariachi Raices de America in 2009. Since then, he has successfully led the group to winning many awards and gaining prestigious recognition throughout the region. With the support of University Administration, Bryant has taken Mariachi Plata from its modest beginning of four students to the now continually growing and award-winning ensembles of the Southwest.

Marachi Plata will be the featured artists at Rotary's Mariachi en contra de Polio concert at 7:30 on October 26 at WNMU's Light Hall

The Rotary Club meets every Tuesday from 12-1 p.m. for lunch. This week it will meet at the HMS main conference room at 1007 N. Pope Street. There is a brief "meet and greet", a short business meeting and then the speaker has the floor. The club welcomes members of the public to the meetings.
