BookMobile2SANTA FE, NM – New Mexico State Library recently launched its new Bookmobile West providing library resources, print books, audio books, DVDs, and more to residents in the south-western rural areas of the state.

"We are so excited to have the new bookmobile so that we can provide our patrons with the books, materials, and services they deserve in a safe and comfortable environment," says Martin Sedillo, Rural Bookmobile West Manager.

The new bookmobile features 70 feet of shelf space and more than 1,000 books. Patrons can check out everything from Southwest fiction and non-fiction to mysteries, fantasy, romance, children's books, young adult fiction and non-fiction, and many other genres.

BookMobile1The bookmobile was purchased from Farber Specialty Vehicles, who also designed and outfitted the van, and replaces an older vehicle that served the region. The new bookmobile was loaded with materials in early January at the State Library's Bookmobile West office in Los Lunas. Three drivers rotate service, which includes areas such as Fort Wingate, Ramah, Cubero, Pie Town, Hillsboro, Rodeo, Mimbres, and other south-western towns of New Mexico.

The State Library operates three bookmobiles in regions that provide books and information to rural and underserved citizens, with each bookmobile traveling a monthly route of regularly scheduled stops.
