Emphasizes working together to prevent catastrophic wildfire to our communities.

SILVER CITY, NM, July 3, 2024 – New Mexico State Representative Luis Terrazas will host a community wildfire preparedness meeting in coordination with local, state, and federal partners in wildfire management and prevention at 6:00 p.m.on Tuesday, July 9 at the Grant County Business and Conference Center (3031 US Highway 180 in Silver City). I want to host this meeting so that our local, state, and federal partners, along with community residents can get together with open minds for candid conversation about wildfire threat to our communities and discuss how we can all work together to reduce wildfire risk," said Representative Terrazas. "This is not about pointing fingers or placing blame. None of us want to see a devastating wildfire in our community, and I would like to work from that common ground toward collaborative solutions."

Representatives from Grant County Fire and Emergency Management, New Mexico Division of Forestry, Bureau of Land Management, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Gila National Forest have been invited to participate. The public is encouraged to attend and bring your concerns and ideas for solutions.
