1 pm – 3:30 pm at Murray Ryan Visitor Center
In celebration of World Water Day 2025, we invite you on a guided hike of San Vicente Creek
Trail. Water has always played a key role in Silver City's success, supplying water for residents,
agriculture, and industry and supporting the diverse woodlands and wildlife we all love.
See flyer below
Whether this is your first time on San Vicente Creek or you're a local expert, you can enjoy
coming together with community members on this easy-moderate hike. Together, we will
discuss our experiences of our urban watershed, view wild plants and animals, and learn about
the historical, present-day, and future importance of water in our region.
Silver City has been celebrating World Water Day for the past 12 years, an annual international
observance day held on March 22 that highlights the importance of freshwater. The day is used
to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The theme of each year
focuses on topics relevant to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene.
Hikers will meet up at the Murray Ryan Visitor Center in time to hit the trail by 1pm on Saturday,
March 22nd. We will travel approximately 2 miles. The trail terrain is unpaved, covers mostly flat
ground with a few areas with uneven surfaces and moderate inclines. There may be shallow
creek crossings. We will loop back to the Visitor Center by 3:30pm. Please bring plenty of water,
sun protection, and appropriate shoes.
This hike will be fun for all ages! Children 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or
guardian.
