The Commons to host 3rd Annual "Gala in the Garden" Fundraiser on Saturday, July 20, 2024, 6-10 pm
The Commons' Gala in the Garden is back for its 3rd year! This exceptional event will take place at The Commons (501 E. 13th St.) on July 20th from 6-10 p.m.
Our theme this year—The Art of Food—showcases some of our local food entrepreneurs who will share their "art" with us all: Open Space Brewery is crafting up a special brew; TGI Frybread, La Vie Est Un Bistro, Mint Chip Creamery, and Sweet Eats and others will be sharing their culinary artistry. Attendees will enjoy the sounds of local musicians Smooth Silver Jazz Band and the Gila Lobsters, bid on silent auction items from around town, and stroll the gardens.
At The Commons Center for Food Security and Sustainability, we believe that access to food is a basic human right, and we are working to make sure that our neighbors, community, and county have the support they need to thrive. Food insecurity is a pressing issue in Grant County, with nearly 1 in 4 households experiencing hunger on a regular basis. Children are particularly affected, with almost 30% living in food-insecure households. This year, in addition to the growing number of families and individuals receiving emergency food, we are expanding with our recently opened Choose Your Own Pantry, developing creative ways to get senior citizens nutritious meals, and revitalizing The Volunteer Center to increase volunteerism across the county for all.
Community members can contribute in multiple ways: By purchasing tickets to the event ($35), becoming an event sponsor, or donating an item to the silent auction. Please visit our web page [ www.thecommonsgrantcounty.org ], send us an email
Thank you for helping us meet the needs of our community as we work diligently to provide food security and sustainability to all. Let's celebrate together this July!
