May 4, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "Social Justice in an Unjust World;
Maree McHugh and Joe Neri will update the Fellowship on what the Social Justice Team of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City has been able to accomplish and what is hoped for in the future.
Social Justice is the principle that everyone should have equal rights, opportunities and treatment for a fair and equitable society where everyone's dignity is respected and protected.
Social justice is the fundamental basis for the 1st and 2nd Principles of Unitarian Universalism - the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and justice, equity and compassion in human relations.
Please join us for an in-depth discussion of the time, effort and money expended by the UUFSC's Social Justice Team over the past several years, in an effort to make a positive and meaningful contribution to the local and regional social justice issues affecting our neighbors, friends and fellow residents of southwest New Mexico. These issues include income inequality, climate change and environmental justice, immigration justice, racism and white privilege, LGBTQ discrimination and domestic violence.
This Sunday's offering will be a dedicated offering to support the work of the UUFSC's Social Justice Team.
Maree McHugh is the current Chair and Joe Neri is a past Chair of the UUFSC Social Justice Team.
Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.
UUFSC Safety Protocol as pursuant to our most recent UUA Guidelines:
