Join us for a showing of "Untreated and Unheard: The Addiction Crisis in America" in honor of those we have lost to overdose in Grant County. Our community collaboration is honored to host this event at the Silco Theater on August 31, 2024, starting at 2:30 PM.

Since 2000, 1.1 million people in the U.S. have died of a preventable overdose, with nearly 110,000 lives lost to preventable overdoses in 2023 alone. The crisis is most severe for historically marginalized and under-resourced communities; low income, unhoused, Black, Brown, and Indigenous people, and people living in rural settings are dying at disproportionate rates. It doesn't have to be this way.

This documentary follows individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder, like Tonia Ahern, a mother from New Jersey who has worked tirelessly for over a decade to educate, support, and empower families while advocating for better and more integrated systems of addiction care. The film also includes Nora Volkow, M.D., Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and Fred Muench, Senior Advisor at Partnership to End Addiction.

Thank you to the local partners who are passionate about overdose prevention efforts including Candles in the Wind Foundation (Dr. Gary Latson), Grant County Community Health Council, Silver Regional Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS), and New Mexico Recovery Coalition.

If you have a loved one who you have lost to overdose and would like to honor them on this day, please feel free to submit a picture and short written excerpt (you can message us directly on Facebook or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
