Kathleen Flynn, grief specialist and author of Essential Grief, a book about recovery from lossSilver City – Understanding, identifying and learning to process grief is the topic of the October 27th meeting of the Death Cafe, a free, monthly meeting open to everyone interested in exploring death-related topics. Kathleen Flynn, retired Hospice and hospital chaplain and ordained minister, will guide participants in an exploration of grief. Flynn is also the author of Essential Grief, a book about recovery from loss.
"I know personally how challenging loss can be, especially when we are inclined to avoid tending to it," she said. "Knowing more about grief and looking at one's own losses in a safe and supportive environment helps us move you through the pain. It's when we avoid grief that we risk harming ourselves and our loved ones." Flynn will also discuss how the manner in which a loved one dies influences the process of grieving.
The 90-minute Death Cafe is facilitated by Lisa Jimenez, certified death doula and practitioner of shamanic healing. The meeting begins at 4:00 pm at the Silver City Public Library, 515 W. College Avenue. For more information, please contact Lisa at (575) 574-5473, or
