GaleGreenFebruary 2, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – Gale Green "Jesus Was Not a Carpenter"

Gale Green will examine the early life of adult Jesus and his journeys in the ancient world.

"Jesus was not a carpenter but it's an easy assumption to make, since sons usually follow in their fathers' footsteps. And the same was true in Jesus' day. His father Joseph was a carpenter and Jesus delivered finished tables, chairs, and other items, so people could rightly assume that he might one day build such beautiful furnishings as well," Green said.

Green said that Jesus traveled widely, learning from other teachers and teaching as well. He would discuss the things he learned with his disciples and followers.

"I'm going to share a few of the things he learned about garden wisdom from teachers all through his travels and how that might apply to our lives," Green said.

After graduating from high school Gale Green attended and graduated from Seminary. Years later she finished her Bachelor's Degree program in Applied Psychology, where she earned outstanding student honors, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling. After that she continued her education and was ordained as a Chaplain. Green continued her focus on the interpersonal relationship needs of her patients, their families, and their friends.

Gale Green moved to Silver City in December 2005 in time to meet new friends and get invited to a tamale making Christmas gathering in her first year on New Mexico soil. She bought a home shortly after and through the good luck of meeting other new friends she was included as charter member of the High Desert Organic Gardeners. She had lots to learn about gardening in the Southwest, and still does, having moved here from Minnesota.

In 2006 Green revamped the GRMC Hospice Chaplaincy program under a new director and served in that capacity for about three and a half years.

After her retirement, she assisted Tyler Connoley in his Church leadership duties, sometimes filling in as a leader occasionally in his absence. Eventually, she trained and oriented him to take over her position as Chaplain of GRMC Hospice.

Green also continued gardening, raising chickens, and spending time with friends over coffee, tea or, more recently after the UU Fellowship on Sundays.

Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.
