JeffGoinSeptember 28, at 10 am, 3845 North Swan Street –  "Karma, Reincarnation, the Climate Crisis, and You"

Meditation teacher Jeff Goin will discuss how we can make a difference in our lives regarding the climate crisis.

In her 2025 book, "Human Nature; Nine Ways to Feel About our Changing Planet," climate scientist Kate Marvel writes, "One second of the sun's energy hitting Earth is equal to approximately 170 years of global fossil fuel consumption."

"Despite the potential for the Sun to easily and single-handedly meet humanity's energy needs, the world seems more committed than ever to fossil fuels; it's just one example of humans' apparent obliviousness to a climate crisis that is upon us. Thus, it's understandable how one might give up hope and stop trying to live a "green" lifestyle, much less work to bring about broad ecological change," Goin said.

Goin says that by considering two fundamental spiritual principles, we can regain hope, and make a difference . . . if not with the global climate crisis, then in our own personal lives.

Jeff Goin has been teaching and leading meditation classes in Silver City, on a volunteer basis, since 2008. He is the founder and director of Lotus Center, a co-founder of Single Socks, and a practicing Mahayana Buddhist since 1999.

There are speakers on the patio if you wish to listen to the service outside.

Childcare is available every Sunday. Zoey Cronin will lead a formal children's program on second and fourth Sundays.  This Sunday will be a Children's RE program.

Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.
