September 7, at 11:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "The Seven Tasks of a Folktale"

Connie Thibeau-Catsis will discuss the tasks proposed in the analysis of the folktale, "Vasalisa the Beautiful." This tale is retold from Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D.'s book, "Women Who Run with Wolves."

Pinkola Estes analyzes the tales based on her background as a Jungian analyst and cantadora storyteller. Thibeau-Catsis will present an abbreviated version of the story renamed as "Vasee, the Bold." This version still addresses the issues of retrieving one's intuition, releasing past issues, and facing challenging times. Elise Stuart will share two of her poems, and the singing will be led by the "No Wrong-Note Singers."

Connie Thibeau-Catsis has spoken several times at the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship since retiring from Arizona State University where she was a professor in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design. Her research area concerns creativity and well-being in university environments and its influence on self-actualization as one ages.

Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.
