LyndaSmithNovember 23, at 10 am, 3845 North Swan Street –  "Wheel of the World"

Lynda Aiman-Smith will explain how The Wheel of the Year is a symbolic calendar that represents the eight festivals celebrated by many earth-based religious adherents. These holidays follow a nature-based cycle. The Wheel includes four solar days (the summer and winter solstices, the spring and autumn equinoxes) and four cross-quarter days that fall in between those. These eight days on the Wheel reflect the agricultural and social cycles related to ancient Celtic, Gaelic, and Anglo-Saxon festivals.

Aiman-Smith will cover some of the history of these festivals, and how they may be celebrated today.

The Wheel of the Year holidays are: Yule December 20-23, Imbolc February 1-2, Ostara March 19-21, Beltane April 30 – May 1, Litha/Midsummer June 20-22, Lammas August 1-2, Mabon September 21-24, Samhain October 31 – November 1.

Lynda Aiman-Smith is a multi-generational native New Mexican, a retired academic, and long-time observer of the Wheel of the Year holidays.
