ManaarJohnsonSeptember 8, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "Unitarian Universalist Flower Ceremony"

The Flower Ceremony is a special Unitarian Universalist "ritual" in an organization that doesn't have traditional sacraments.

Rev. Mana'ar Johnson will explain the inspiring history behind the ceremony, begun by a European minister who died in a concentration camp.

"It allows us an opportunity to reflect on our community, its beauty and diversity. We consider what gifts we bring, symbolized by a flower we offer, and we are grateful for what others bring to our fellowship. We take home a different flower to remind us of our own beauty and that of others in our lives," Johnson said.

"It will include beautiful poetry and music, and beautiful photos by Andrew Tree of the wildflowers of Grant County, NM. Bring a single flower with you, but don't worry if you forget, we will have a few extras," she added.

Rev. Mana'ar Johnson leads the interfaith Universal Worship service begun by the Sufi teacher Hazrat Inayat Khan in Silver City, as well as Dances of Universal Peace.

There are speakers on the patio if you wish to listen to the service outside.

Childcare is available every Sunday. Zoey Cronin will lead a formal children's program on second and fourth Sundays. This Sunday will be a Children's RE program.

Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.

UUFSC Safety Protocol as pursuant to our most recent UUA Guidelines:

Masks are now optional, but their use is encouraged. We will continue to serve refreshments on the patio and in the building. Visitors are always welcome.
