Santa Fe, N.M. - New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the television pilot "Scalped" produced by Horizon Scripted Television, Inc., will begin principal photography in April in Santa Fe, Pojoaque and Laguna Pueblo.
"This is a particularly unique project dealing with modern day challenges in the Native American community as well as issues of cultural identity," said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. "New Mexico is honored to have been chosen by the 'Scalped' creators as the best place to bring their project to life."
The production will employ approximately 120 New Mexico crew members, 15 New Mexico principal actors and 350 New Mexico background talent.
"Scalped" is directed by Adil El Arbi ("Black," "Image," "Broeders") and Bilall Fallah ("Black," "Image," "Bergica"). Producers include Doug Jung ("Star Trek Beyond," "Confidence," "Dark Blue"), Len Goldstein ("Hart of Dixie," "The Carrie Diaries," "Cult"), Steven Felder ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Miami Vice," "Bad Boy") and Sterlin Harjo ("Four Sheets to the Wind," "Barking Water," "Mekko").
Starring Gil Birmingham ("Twilight Saga," "Hell or High Water"), Irene Bedard ("Pocahontas," "The Tree of Life"), Alex Meraz ("The Twilight Saga: New Moon"), Chaske Spencer ("Banshee," "Sneaky Pete"), Lily Gladstone ("Certain Women," "Winter in the Blood") and Zahn McClarnon ("Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron," "Bone Tomahawk"), "Scalped" is the story based on a critically acclaimed sixty issue crime/western comic book series written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by R.M. Gu+¬ra.
