Columbus, NM (April 17, 2017) Congressman Steve Pearce today attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Columbus Port of Entry. A new port of entry will increase tourism and local economies in New Mexico, as well as, aid in security and modernization efforts along the southern border.

"The new Columbus Port of Entry is a key investment for Luna County. Not only will the new port increase the economic opportunity for Columbus and the County, but it will aid in the overall strategy to secure our southern border and keep communities in New Mexico safe. This groundbreaking reaffirms our shared commitment to improving Customs and Border Patrol's ability to effectively and efficiently complete its inspections at the Columbus crossing, while not interfering with trade and commerce. I appreciate the help my colleagues in the Senate have done to work with me in securing this new crossing, and I look forward to seeing the finished product."
