Santa Fe, N.M. – Tomorrow at 10 a.m., the Courts, Corrections & Justice Committee (CCJ) will hold the first in a series of interim meetings to consider policy proposals for the upcoming special session that begins July 18.

CCJ plays a key role in vetting and advancing public safety legislation during the interim. These preparatory meetings will feature expert testimony and member discussion about the intersection of the justice system with mental illness and addiction.

"The issues we are considering for this special session are worthy of serious attention, input, and scrutiny," said CCJ Chair Rep. Christine Chandler (D-Los Alamos). "We owe it to New Mexicans to enter the special session with a strong understanding of these topics, so we can work on meaningful solutions that will truly make our communities safer and improve access to services, while also protecting people's rights."

The meetings will be held at the New Mexico State Capitol and webcast on the dates listed below:

June 5-6

June 26-27

July 15-17
