Davenport Springs Fire - Datil Mountains - New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, NM, March 11, 2025 – Yesterday fire crews responded to a smoke report in the Datil Mountains on the Magdalena Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands in New Mexico. The fire was creeping in dense vegetation carried by dead & down fuel in mountainous terrain.

Today fire crews will resume fire suppression activities.

Size: 10 acres
Location: Northwest of Datil, NM and north of NM 60 & east FSR 6 on the Magdalena Ranger District – New Mexico on the Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands.

Strategy: Full suppression.
Fuels: Pine, pinyon-juniper, grass and dead & down.
Fire behavior: low to moderate.
