This evening marks the beginning of Passover, a holiday commemorating the miraculous story of the Hebrews' exodus from slavery and bondage in Egypt. It is a celebration of liberation, miracles, and the resilience of the Jewish people.
As night falls, families will gather together and set their seder plates with ceremonial items representing the tears of their oppression, the plagues against the Egyptians, and the joy of their redemption. Amidst the alarming rise of antisemitism both nationally and globally, the retelling of the story of the Israelites' freedom from despair and persecution brings forth renewed hope.
This Passover, let us reflect on our own exodus from times of injustice and pain and remember that God's intervention never fails to bring forth deliverance.
The Republican Party of New Mexico wishes the Jewish community in New Mexico, Israel, and around the world a blessed and joyous Passover.
