ALBUQUERQUE – The annual New Mexico Outdoor Adventures Hunting & Fishing Show opens at noon Friday, Feb. 16, and continues through Sunday, Feb. 18, in the Manuel Lujan Building at Expo New Mexico, located on the state fairgrounds in Albuquerque. This event is hosted by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF).

This year's event features hands-on demonstrations of the latest equipment for hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation. Off-highway vehicles, recreational vehicles, boats and kayaks will be on display by local dealers.  Conservation organizations, outfitters and guides will be on hand to answer questions. Youth participants will have an opportunity to learn or enhance skills at the free catch-and-release fishing pond. All visitors can enjoy the pellet shooting range, sponsored by the Bernalillo 4-H, and the archery range.

The Department will host the first New Mexico 3D archery tournament during this year's show for schools that participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). The tournament will take place Friday-Sunday in the Creative Arts building, across the street from the Manuel Lujan Building, and will feature more than 350 archers from 23 teams. The public is invited to watch the tournament before or after attending the Outdoor Adventures Hunting & Fishing Show.

The tournament awards ceremony will take place following the final flights on Sunday afternoon. Scores will be posted at NASPtournaments.org.

This year's show also include a turkey calling challenge and an elk calling challenge. The turkey calling challenge, featuring youth, ladies, slate and open categories, will take place Saturday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. The elk calling challenge will take place Sunday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m., with pee wee (age 9 and under), youth 10-17, ladies and open categories.
