SANTA FE – The state of New Mexico will update the hours of operation for the disaster response and recovery call center, opened as part of the response to the flooding in Chaves County.

Residents can continue to call the Department of Homeland Security's (DHSEM) disaster response and recovery call center at 1-833-663-4736 seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Updated information and resources can also be found on DHSEM's website and Facebook, and X.

Since launching the hotline on Tuesday, October 22, the call center has received nearly 600 calls from residents looking for information and resources.

"We know how important it is for folks to be able to talk to a person who really cares and to get answers to the questions that come after a disaster hits," said DHSEM State Director, Ali Rye. "The stories we are hearing are heartbreaking, but we are grateful to be able to provide a listening ear, in addition information that will help this community recover."

FEMA is now accepting applications to provide assistance to individuals, households and businesses in the affected areas of Chaves County. Residents impacted by the flooding in Chaves County can now apply for FEMA Individual Assistance in the following ways:
