Students statewide logged on for the first day of the school year at New Mexico's leading full-time online school

Santa Fe, N.M. (Aug. 7, 2024) – Today, New Mexico Connections Academy, a tuition free-online public school began the 2024-2025 school year. The school celebrates its 12th year of serving New Mexico students in grades 4-12, and their families, with an established online curriculum.

Serving more than 1,400 students and families across the state, New Mexico Connections Academy provides a curriculum that emphasizes academics and building fundamental life skills as well as flexible learning opportunities and a supportive learning environment. This combination gives students the ability to pursue extracurricular activities or tailor learning based on specific needs, bolstering growth and empowering students to take charge of their academic journey. New Mexico Connections Academy teachers are specially trained in the online environment to bring their skills and personalities to the virtual classroom to deliver a personalized approach to learning allowing students to achieve their full potential and reach their academic goals.

Students are returning to school shortly after the release of the 2024 Parent Satisfaction Survey, an annual third-party survey that provides families with the opportunity to review their experience with New Mexico Connections Academy. According to the 2024 Parent Satisfaction Survey results:

Audra Armenta, parent and Learning Coach to New Mexico Connections Academy eighth grader, Taylor Armenta, recently enrolled her daughter to accommodate their travel schedule. "Taylor competes competitively in rodeo barrel racing and traveling for national competitions is a big part of our lives," said Audra. "The teachers at New Mexico Connections Academy have been amazing, making sure Taylor doesn't fall behind on her schoolwork and give her the flexibility to work at her own pace."

Students enrolled in New Mexico Connections Academy have access to advanced courses, extracurricular activities and flexible scheduling. They join a collaborative community of their fellow students and educators that provides a welcoming, distraction-free learning environment. In 2024, New Mexico Connections Academy participated in the HOSA – Future Health Professionals State Leadership Championship, as the first online school in the state to establish a HOSA chapter. Through the school's local HOSA chapter, students participate in health sciences courses, get hands-on experience in the healthcare industry, and learn about growing opportunities in healthcare careers.
