SANTA FE, NM – In a significant shift toward a revitalized future for New Mexico House Republicans, a new Leader and Whip have been elected, promising a transformative vision for the state. Representative Rod Montoya (R-Farmington) has been chosen as the new House Republican Leader, with Representative Alan Martinez (R-Bernalillo) elected to the role of Whip after Rep. Jim Townsend (R-Artesia) stepped down to allow the caucus to coalesce around a new leadership team. Gail Armstrong (R-Magdalena) will maintain her position as Caucus Chair.
This new leadership team brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the forefront of state politics. Representative Montoya, known for his powerful conservative message and bold presence on the House Floor, vows to take his vision directly to New Mexicans and focus on policies that promote education choice, job growth, safe communities, and affordable and reliable energy. His track record of working with diverse stakeholders is expected to be instrumental in advancing the Republican Caucus's priorities. Representative Armstrong looks forward to using lessons she has learned across 30 years of business ownership to strengthen the Caucus.
