The New Mexico State University Foundation has created more than 30 banners to display on the NMSU campus saluting some of the university's most accomplished alumni.
The "Legends" banners recognize alumni who have notable achievements, with a photo of the alum and a shout-out to their proudest accomplishments. The banners will be displayed around the Horseshoe and along the International Mall, ensuring visibility to students, faculty, staff and all visitors during Homecoming 2024.
"This is a living, daily tribute that highlights something far beyond the university itself," said Sylvia Y. Acosta, CEO of the NMSU Foundation. "These banners shine a light on the ambition, determination and relentless drive of NMSU alumni, and showcase the impact they make in our world."
Sponsored by the NMSU Alumni Association, the 28 x 80-inch banners emphasize the rich diversity and talent of NMSU alumni in time for Homecoming weekend, when many graduates are expected to return to Las Cruces for the celebrations. Each banner features a different alumnus and a highlight of their career.
"We are incredibly proud of our graduates, and what sets us apart is the lasting impact our alumni have on their communities through the remarkable work they do every day," said Mayra Marquez, assistant vice president of alumni relations and annual giving. "We hope everyone who sees these banners—especially our students—will see a part of themselves in these stories and recognize that with hard work and a strong foundation from NMSU, nothing is impossible."
The banners showcase alumni from every college at the university and span more than 50 years of NMSU history. The Alumni Association's goal is to build a stronger emotional connection between the university and its alumni while increasing the visibility of our shared legacy.
