ENMU Announces JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main and Family Weekend Activities

Portales, NM - October 10, 2024 – Eastern New Mexico University announced today the activities for their second annual JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main on Oct. 18 and the yearly JP Stone Community Bank Family Weekend happening Oct. 18-19.

"Last year, we hosted the first Rally on Main with Family Weekend, and it was a great success," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "This year, we intend for it to be bigger and better. I hope to see a great community turnout as we welcome back the families of our students and enjoy a wonderful weekend of celebration and fun together."

The JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main event happens on Friday, Oct. 18, from 3 to 10 p.m. at 413 S. Main Street in Portales. ENMU, in conjunction with the City of Portales, will close off Main Street between 4th and 5th Street to welcome the campus and community to a night of family fun.

Live music will run from 3 to 10 p.m., with the ENMU Jazz Band starting the performances at 3 p.m. At 5 p.m., Matthew Plamer and the Mammoth Cults take the stage. After a community-wide pep rally at 7 p.m. featuring the ENMU Greyhound Sound and the Portales High School Marching Band, country music artist Will Banister will take the stage to cap off the night.

Events at JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main include a family fun area featuring inflatables and face painting, food trucks, a beer and wine garden provided by Enchantment Vineyards, and much more.

JP Stone Community Bank Family Weekend starts on Friday night, Oct. 18. It continues through Saturday, Oct. 19. ENMU families can enjoy a BBQ with the president at the Yam Theatre on Friday at 5 p.m. and then enjoy the rest of their night at JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main.

Saturday, Oct. 19, kicks off bright and early with a mix-and-mingle breakfast with campus leaders at the Courthouse Café. The day continues with entry to the Wagon Wheel rivalry game at noon. During the game, ENMU will announce the scholarship winners for JP Stone Community Bank Family Weekend, giving away a total of $1,750 in scholarships for the spring 2025 semester.

After the game, families can head to Uncle Mike's to enjoy a singers' and songwriters' night featuring local artists from the Clovis and Portales area.
